1. Adaptation to High-Nickel Battery Systems

High-nickel cathode batteries (such as NCM811 and NCA) require higher resistance to oxidation and corrosion of the current collector. The nickel plating layer effectively prevents the electrolyte from corroding the copper foil.

In high-voltage fast-charging scenarios, nickel-plated copper foil can suppress copper foil surface passivation and reduce interfacial impedance growth.

2. Preferred Carrier for Silicon-Based Anodes

Silicon anodes experience volume expansion rates as high as 300% during charge and discharge, easily leading to copper foil breakage or active material detachment. The high strength and toughness of the nickel plating layer can buffer stress and improve electrode structural stability.

The catalytic effect of nickel can also improve the lithium-ion diffusion efficiency of silicon materials.
